Akubio

Akubio was a leading developer and provider of systems for the real-time measurement and analysis of biomolecular interactions, using pioneering acoustic detection technology. eg technology was contracted to aid Akubio in the development of its innovative sensor technology.

The Challenge

To assist in the design and engineering of a complex, leading-edge, patented technology with the aim of creating a commercial product.

Approach

eg technology worked in close partnership with Akubio's biosensor, RF electronics and software teams to provide the mechanical development resource during their instrumentation development programme. This relationship started in 2002 with initial proof-of-principle prototypes and lab development rigs and continued into the development of the commercial product. This included the development of high performance temperature control, fluid handling systems, prototype manufacture and the industrial design of the product.

The Result

Our long term partnership with Akubio delivered the launch in 2006 of RAPid-4, their first commercial product. This highlights our desire to complement our clients' in-house expertise through every stage of a project.
