Desktop Projector Concept

eg technology was employed to generate a concept for a portable desktop projector. The product would be an accessory designed to enhance the viewing experience of images and videos from modern portable media players and mobile phones.

The Challenge

The product needed to be as small, compact and attractive as possible, whilst also meeting fixed dimensional constraints of internal electronics and components. The product was to fit with the latest and most popular ranges of mobile phones and media players and therefore the industrial design needed to be sleek, elegant and appealing.

Approach

eg technology clarified the brief and then the team set about sketching up a wide range of casework formats and styling options for the desktop projector. Development and refinement of many hand sketches led to the formation of three concepts, one of which was taken forward to 3D modelling. Creation of a representative 3D model allowed us to demonstrate that the size and styling of the product was realistic and allowed us to produce attractive photorealistic imagery.

The Result

Concept presentation boards were created to show off the industrial design of the concept and to detail its functionality and features. The project demonstrates the industrial design capabilities within eg technology and how the team can work to quickly generate concepts that can be further developed into real world products.
