EIT Health Catapult

eg technology is pleased to announce the winners of the EIT Health Catapult award for the Most Innovative Product within the MedTech category.

Referred to by event organisers as ‘the Oscars of Healthcare’, the EIT Health Catapult awards ceremony were this year held at the Bits & Pretzels HealthTech event in Munich, where delegates were treated to an array of HealthTech presentations by guest speakers, including none other than Michael J Fox. Awards were presented to winners across each category, as well as one audience award and several industry partners awards.

As a sponsor of the award for the Most Innovative Product within the MedTech category, eg have offered a total of 10 days’ worth of engineering expertise, shared amongst the winning three applicants, that can be used towards the realisation of their innovation.

The first prize was awarded to FrMED, who will receive five days’ worth of engineering and development support with the eg technology engineering specialists. FrMED have created AmbiJet, a medical device which offers a revolutionary therapeutic solution for peri-implantitis. We will be working with FrMED to help with the development of their unique technology designed to save dental implants, increase quality of life and give patients their smile back. With over 130 million people across the EU and US having already dental implants, FrMED aim to provide patients with a fast, painless and effective solution to combat peri-implantitis without any side effects.

The runner-up, receiving three days of development time with our team, was Omini, who are transforming the lives of patients suffering from chronic disease. eg will be working with the Omini team to develop their patented, sensor-based technology, which facilitates near-patient testing and self-testing while keeping providers informed at each step. Combining multi-sensing blood testing strips, a portable connected reader, and an application for clinical and biological data transmission, their unique technology is a giant leap forward for precision medicine, and a powerful catalyst in the shift towards preventive care.

Finally, in third place, receiving two days’ worth of eg technology development time, was Chipiron – a company devoted to making MRI accessible to all. We will be working with Chipiron to develop their innovative, portable, cost-efficient, accessible and independently-operated MRI machine designed to enable broader adoption of MRI for systematic exploration.

It has been a fantastic couple of days meeting with fellow industry professionals and the various start-ups at the Bits & Pretzels HealthTech event, and a great platform for the EIT Health Catapult final. Listening to the various pitches and being able to select the three most innovative projects, was a privilege. We are looking forward to working with the winners and helping them to further realise their innovation by leveraging our development expertise, whilst providing them with a streamlined route to market.
